Morning Market Outlook 20260310

Markets experienced extreme volatility on Monday, beginning with overnight swings and continuing through the close. Major U.S. indexes posted bullish outside reversal days, closing above Friday’s highs after briefly trading lower earlier in the session. While this signals potential strength, volatility indicators such as the VIX remain elevated, suggesting the market has more work to do before confirming a bullish shift.

Commodity markets were equally volatile, with crude oil and gasoline reversing sharply after early gains. Financial sectors in both Canada and the U.S. struggled, including banks, insurance stocks, and home builders. On the positive side, several individual stocks led the market higher, including Celestica, Western Digital, and Caterpillar. Traders will now watch whether the market builds on Monday’s reversal or retests recent lows.
